By downloading, installing, or using Babel Fish, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the application.
2. Description of Service
Babel Fish is an AI-powered keyboard application for iOS that provides:
- Text translation using AI models
- Mini Chat functionality for AI conversations
- AI-assisted writing and text improvement
- Integration with OpenRouter and third-party AI model providers
To use AI features, you must provide your own OpenRouter API key. Babel Fish acts as an interface to access AI services through OpenRouter.
3. User Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- All content you submit through Babel Fish
- Reviewing and verifying all AI-generated outputs before use
- Ensuring your use complies with applicable laws and regulations
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your API key
- Any charges incurred through your OpenRouter account
4. User Content and Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all content you submit through Babel Fish. Babel Fish does not claim any ownership rights over your submitted text or the content you create.
The Babel Fish application, including its design, code, and branding, is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the application.
5. Limited License to Process Content
By using Babel Fish, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process the text you submit solely for the purpose of providing the application's functionality. This includes transmitting your text to OpenRouter and AI providers to generate translations and responses.
This license exists only during the processing of your request and does not grant us any rights to retain, sell, or use your content for other purposes.
6. Sensitive and Restricted Content
Content You Should Avoid Submitting
You should not submit the following types of content through Babel Fish:
- Confidential Information: Trade secrets, proprietary business information, or confidential communications
- Regulated Information: Information subject to legal or regulatory restrictions
- Copyrighted Material: Content you do not have authorization to process or translate
- Personal Sensitive Data: Social security numbers, financial account details, passwords
- Healthcare Data: Protected health information (PHI) or medical records
- Legal Documents: Contracts, court filings, or legal correspondence requiring accuracy
7. AI Output Disclaimer
Important: AI Limitations
AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate content. AI models may "hallucinate" information that is factually incorrect. Translations may not be accurate or appropriate for all contexts.
You must review all AI-generated outputs before relying on them. Babel Fish is not responsible for consequences arising from unreviewed or unverified AI outputs.

8. Pro Purchase and Payments
Babel Fish offers Babel Fish Pro Lifetime, a Non-Consumable In-App Purchase that unlocks additional features.
- One-Time Purchase: Pay once, no subscription or recurring billing
- Lifetime Unlock: Access Pro features for the lifetime of product availability, subject to technical, business, and legal limitations
- No Recurring Charges: You will not be charged again for Pro features
All purchases are processed through Apple's StoreKit framework. Apple handles billing, payment processing, and refunds according to their policies.
Restore Purchases: If you reinstall Babel Fish or change devices, you can restore your Pro purchase through the app using your Apple ID.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights provided under applicable law.
9. OpenRouter and Third-Party Services
Babel Fish integrates with OpenRouter and various third-party AI model providers. These services operate under their own terms of service and privacy policies.
By using Babel Fish, you also agree to comply with:
- OpenRouter's Terms of Service
- The terms of any AI model providers you access through Babel Fish
Babel Fish is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
10. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use Babel Fish for:
- Any unlawful purpose or activity
- Generating harmful, abusive, threatening, or harassing content
- Creating spam, phishing, or deceptive content
- Attempting to bypass or circumvent AI safety measures
- Automated or programmatic abuse of AI services
- Generating content that violates the rights of others
- Any activity that violates OpenRouter's or AI providers' acceptable use policies
11. No Professional Advice
Babel Fish Does Not Provide Professional Advice
AI outputs from Babel Fish should not be considered professional advice of any kind.
Babel Fish outputs are not a substitute for:
- Legal Advice: Consult a qualified attorney for legal matters
- Medical Advice: Consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns
- Financial Advice: Consult a financial advisor for investment or financial decisions
- Immigration Advice: Consult an immigration attorney or authorized representative
- Tax Advice: Consult a tax professional for tax-related matters
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
BABEL FISH IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APPLICATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF AI-GENERATED TRANSLATIONS OR OUTPUTS.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BABEL FISH AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION.
THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS RELATED TO THE APPLICATION SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APPLICATION OR PRO FEATURES.
14. Termination
You may stop using Babel Fish at any time by uninstalling the application.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the application or any features at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of Babel Fish after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
16. Regional Availability
Babel Fish may not be available in all regions or languages. Certain features, AI providers, or services may vary depending on platform, legal, regulatory, or technical limitations.
Purchases, refunds, and billing are handled by Apple according to App Store policies and regional consumer laws.
